The useful details
What to know.
These steps describe Safari; menu names and locations can vary with iOS and browser version.
Find a recent Safari download
After downloading, Safari may show a Downloads button near its search field. Tap it, then tap Downloads to see the file. Its appearance and location can differ with Safari and iOS versions.
Apple: find downloads on iPhone ↗Find it in the Files app
Open Files, tap Browse and check the Downloads folder in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone. If Safari is configured to use a different location, look in that selected folder. A saved MP4 does not automatically have to appear in Photos.
Check where Safari saves files
In current iOS versions, open Settings, then Apps → Safari → Downloads. The chosen location may be iCloud Drive, On My iPhone or another folder. Older iOS versions may show a different Settings layout.
Apple: choose a Safari download location ↗If you want the video in Photos
Open the downloaded MP4 in Files and check the Share menu. If Save Video is offered, it can add a compatible video to the photo library. Available actions depend on iOS and the file; keeping the download in Files is also an option.
Choose MP4 rather than the cover
Download video · MP4 saves the clip. Save cover is a still image. Audio · M4A is a separate audio-only download and is shown only when a compatible stream is available; the MP4 can still contain sound without it.
If Safari opens a preview or Paste is blocked
Use Safari’s available download or share controls if a file opens instead of saving directly. For clipboard permission problems, press and hold the input field and choose Paste. Never enter your Instagram password into Laqta.
If a file becomes unavailable
Reload the original public post in the tool to request a fresh media link. Private posts and Stories are unsupported, and public media can still be restricted. Save only content you have permission to keep.
